Update! (Har har. Get it?)
Last night the wind reached 71 knots, with a maximum gust of 105 knots. This is a new Summit Station record. I managed to sleep peacefully right through it, even though it sounded like a hundred jet engines roaring outside the building as I fell asleep.
We remain hunkered down in the Green House today as the winds slowly diminish. The power is still on, and the internet still works (obviously). What we don’t know is how the scientific instrumentation is faring, or what is becoming buried in waves of blowing snow.
Soon we will venture outside, shovels in hand.
